My mother's maiden name is Turner. My grandfather's surname is Turner originally from Emporia Virginia Greensville county. My grandfather was raised by his grandfather Burrell Turner. Here is what my grandfather told my mother when she was a little girl and then told me the same story when I was young that his grandfather told him. It was said that Nat Turner was never hung because Nat Turner went into the swamps and the authorities did not follow him into the swamps because they were affraid they would not get out. Now if you read the history on Nat Turner they always talk about how he was very knowledgable about the swamps and the hampton roads.Something to think about!! It's not like we have not been lied to before.
