We are direct descendants of Anna Massie. She was a house slave at the Oak Grove Plantation run by Henry Massie in Alleghany county, Va. Anna Massie married Arthur Lee after Henry granted her and her 3 children their freedom to become a family. We recently visited with a Massie descendant up at Oak Grove. It is a possibility that Anna came from one of the plantations in Nelson county, perhaps Pharsalia.
Do you have any info on her or Arthur Lee? Thanks so much. Also, Anna's grand-daughter Susan Brown Grasty Martin married Algie Martin in the same county sometime in the 1880's. We're searching for info on his line of Martin's as well. His father was William Martin, his mother M. Martin, possibly form Gordonsville, Charlottesville, Va. Thanks again for your time.
