Re: Mazique, August & Sarah
In Response To: Re: Mazique, August & Sarah ()

Hi Diane,

Thanks for the info. I do have you, your siblings and ancestors back to August and Sarah in my family tree. I am a direct descendent of James "Jim" Mazique son of August and Sarah. I actually replied to your post several days ago. But, for whatever reason my post still hasn't posted. Anyway, I to have heard stories of the Maziques coming from some Island. However, I have no documentation. I've also heard they loved horses and also trained them. Have you heard that story before? A few years ago I was able to obtain some information claiming the origin of the Maziques. This information indicated they came from Europe. Or at least a caucasion family named Mazique only spelled a different way came from Europe, Belgium I do believe. Actually the village or town was named Mazique (spelled differently.) This family's history went back to the 1600's. They fled from Europe and ended in Charles Town, South Carolina now known as Charlston, SC. However, there is a big gap before August comes into the picture. So, I am not sure if we are linked to that family. If you find out any new information on the Mazique family I would be most grateful if you'd share it with me.
