Re: Mazique, August & Sarah
In Response To: Re: Mazique, August & Sarah ()
Thank you for your response. I to subscribe to Ancestry.com. And the August Mazique you are referring to is not the one I am researching. The August Mazique you are referring to was born about 1892. His mother was Elnora Mazique and he had a sister named Hattie. The August Mazique I am researching was born 1820 in South Carolina and died in Natchez about 1884. Both of his parents were also from South Carolina. His wife Sara was born in Virginia. August can be found in the 1880 South Carolina, Federal Census records listed as August Mazycy living in Kingston, Adams, Mississippi. His son Otey/Otie would have been born about 1862. In the Mazique family you'll find several family members with the same name. So, when researching the dates (birth/death) are extremely important. What I do know is August and his parents came from South Carolina and Sara and her parents came from Virginia. I also know Sancho Mazique (Buffalo Soldier)and his family were born in South Carolina. I am trying to link him to August. And most importantly I am trying to find the orgin of this family, Africa, Europe, Carribbean.
