Hi Squirrelly.
None of the HATTAWAY/HATIWAY names appear in the book. The only mention of anyone with a similiar name was HATHAWAY, and that was only in reference to some officials signing a document. But in looking at the census records for the names you give, it doesn't look like they had ever been in North Carolina, both Alfred & John Hataway were listed as being born in Indiana. It also appears that John LINDLEY had been in Indiana for a very long time by 1850, judging by the census records where he first appears in 1820 Orange Co.,IN, and because of the ages of his children. Have you tried checking the earlier census and other possible records in Indiana for your family?
