Eatonton, Putnam County, Georgia
![]() In Response To: Re: Eaton Plantation descendants NC ()
Hi. I have a question. In Putnam County, Georgia, there is a town called EATONTON. Eatonton was the location of the Seven Oaks Plantation [also known as the Spivey Plantation], and the TURNWOLD Plantation. While I have yet to find evidence of an Eaton Plantation there, I am wondering if it is possible some of the Eatons left North Carolina and set up homesteads in Georgia. This may account for the name of the town, Eatonton. According to what I read, Eatonton was named after William Eaton (1764-1811). Do you have any information that would suggest this was one of the Eatons from North Carolina? Thanks. Spivey
