I have a relative who's first name is spelled Taswell or even Tazwell as well as the first name Auswell. These family names have been used for many years but no one has used the Taswell first name since the 1800s. The name is associated with the last name Creed. Our family came from england or perhaps scottland early. We have evidence of them already established in north Carolina and Tennessee by early 1800s and migrated into Texas by the 1840s or 1850s. They were non-slave owning farmers.
When I have spoken to people from england they think that Taswell and Auswell sound like places. So who knows...
