Georgia,
I can't tell you anything about the people you are looking for if they weren't freed until after the Civil War. That means they remained slaves until after the Emancipation Proclamation and would not be included in the Emancipation Records found in the book I have called "In Full Force and Virtue, North Carolina Emancipation Records 1713-1860". But you already seem to be one step ahead of the game because you apparently know who was the slaveowner. Your next step would be to look through the will & deed records for the slaveowner and his family and to follow up on researching the members of that family tracing their roots the same way you would your own family. That is where you would likely find mention of the slaves you are looking for and may be able to find out more about them and their origins.
