If anyone is still following this thread, I would be interested in hearing from others whose ancestors were Percivals in Richland County (Columbia) SC as of the 1870s. My ancestors are mentioned in this post made 3 years ago... by 1880's my ggf was in NYC... but in 1873 he made deposit in the Freedman's bank in Columbia and listed several siblings. This can now be found on Ancestry.com with subscription only. Can't find him in the 1860 free census, so assume at that time he, siblings & parents were in slavery.
