My 2nd great grandparents were slaves on the James Shipman plantation. I am wondering if there could be a connection with your family. This is on my mother's maternal side. However on her paternal side, her grandfather was Jeremiah Johnson and I am not sure where he came from except that he was possibly born in VA.
