Re: NEED Y'ALL's OPINION-1860 slave sched.

Checking the microfilm as suggested by Ron is the best way to go right now. All of the names you listed are connected in some way. Mary A. Adams b abt 1812 TN is the widow of Stephen Adams b 17 Oct 1807 Anderson Co., SC d 1857 Memphis, TN.

John Cox Est is the Estate of John Cox b abt 1793 AL d 1860. So those slaves listed went to someone else that year. John B Cox b 1827 AL is a son of John Cox. The other Cox might be William Cox another son of John Cox. A daughter of John Cox named Mary Jane Cox b abt 1831 AL was married to Robert Adams who was a slave trader and a banker. She was also married to Lewis Jackson Dortch, a doctor, b abt 1817 NC and to Anderson Hopkins French Sr. b abt 1840 OH. They may have brought slaves into her family. Dortch was also married to a Nancy J. Adams. There is a definite Adams connection with these people in and around Monroe Co., MS. Checking the microfilm is a good suggestion.

Ed Adams
