Re: Prather Plantation
In Response To: Re: Prather Plantation ()
The Prathers were rangers in the indian wars Henry Prather and Basil had land grants and got to Kentucky before Daniel Boones party in 1774. They never lived with Boone. Lexington KY gov sites on the web have Ravens run a wildlife area settled by Baruch Prather. Near Athens Boonesboro road just like the old TV show on Jacks Creek Pike. Pics are there and it was built in 1800. Basil Prather and Henry (who fought at fort harrodsburg with Daniel Boones son who died there in the rev, ) were the first settlers of Louisville building the house at the zoo there. Prathers seem to have some from the Ohio and Kentucky river. Praters came from cumberland gap where archibald prater is famous and on KY historical markers at Salyersville. My GGGGGG was his bro. the enlisted in VA militial in Sept 11 1780 and were vets as were the prathers. I imagine there were slaves etc. I once found a prater/prather who was in most of the civil war battles. My line was both sides then. Point lookout MD has one kia as a CSA from Arkansas. The white side is very english and the lillard bonner collection in Wilson hist society at KY's capitol is from Library of congress researchers. GBPrather@aol.com is the expert database guy, and google for Nunney Castle where the name comes from. We lost it in the english civil war.
