Re: Spivey Plantation - Eatonton, Putnam, GA

I've done some research in Putnam County regarding my ODOM line.
The clerk of the Putnam County Probate Court was very helpul in pulling up ODOM related newspaper articles (estate sales announcements, ect.) and a copy of all odom marriages (black and white) beginning 1859 thru 1940. All this was really a bonus that I was not expecting to an estate file/inentory I ordered. Not saying this will always be the case, but it lets you know it's available.
The newspaper extracts came from the following two sources:
1. Putnam County Extracts, Volume II, 1835-1889
2. George Newspaper Clippings-souce CG.
I have no idea what CG refers too.

Here is one example verbatum:
Tuesday, August 3, 1858

Georia, Putnam County Sheriff Sales--On first Tuesday in October, next, before the Court House door in the town of Eatonton, Putnam County, within the usual hours of sale, the following property to wit:

3 negroes...levied on as the property of Cincinnatus W. GRIGGS, to satisfy executions of fi fas in favor of Boykin B. ODOM (signed) M. GRAYBILL, Sheriff-(source SR)
