Re: Union Parish, LA.
In Response To: Union Parish, LA. ()

Hi my great-grandfather Eston Woodward/Woodard came to LA in 1860 with his master, he was somewhere between the ages of 13-15. His master migrated from South Carolina to Lincoln Parish. His master was a Woodward and I believe the master may have been William E. Woodward or W.E. Woodward but I could be wrong, there were other Woodwards in the area of Union and Lincoln Parish. His master served in the civil war and Eston stayed with the family until the war was over. He married Harriett Lucas. If you could you please look up a slave named Caroline Lucas, she was harriett's mom and may have had another daughter named Ellen the master may have been surnamed Lucas. Lastly, another great grandfather of mine, Willis Hendricks(ick)(ix) was born around 1854 or 1855 in the Union Parish, Ouachita Parish, Lincoln Parish area. His mother was Matilda (nicknamed "Mattoa") Hendricks (ick) (ix) and she was born in Alabama can you search to see if she and he were slaves listed in one of
the Hendricks (ick) (ix) households in Union Parish, thank you.
