Re: Tate, Craven, and Payne, Loudoun County, VA
Hello Ladies: I've been trying to stay away from Loudoun Co just for a minute, but you two are really "connecting the dots" and I can't ignore seeing them. I'm working both sides of my parents' history and wanted to put my mother's maternal side to the back burner, but...here is what I have so far.
My great aunt Rhoda Jones married Jonathan Simmons in Ohio, where they were born. Rhoda died and Jonathan remarried to an Amanda Tate, also born in Ohio. I trully haven't checked out Amanda's family in full, yet, but the Jones and Tate's were from Virginia, Simmons orginally (from about 1815) came from North Carolina. All of the three families ended up in Belmont County, VA, between 1815-1840, and some of Ohio migrated to Western Pennsylvania. Marriages in the Tates, Jones, Simmons, Craven, Payne, Newsome, plus a few others did happen. However, this is just to let you know as soon as this weary mind gets the time, and you allow it, I will share data with you on all of them. If you don't hear from me in a month, a word or two from younz will do the trick. By the way, they also married into the Lucas/Cocke/Cox/Water/Walters families on my mother side, definitely all were from Loudoun County, VA.
