I'm the GGG grandchild of John Prather, who is the father of Julia Prather. Julia Prather married a Pierce Varner. Your information about the arrival of Prathers or Praters' is beneficial. John Prather had children in Meriwether County (Greenville), Georgia. Other linkages include Snelson, Varner and Marchman. John's wife, Mary had several children according to ancestry.com: Levi, Charley, Julia, Sallie, and Esther. This may or may not be my GGG grandfather. I'm finding that names were misspelled by different census takers, which hinder search efforts. John Prather could have been born abt 1868 or prior to the war ending. His father could have been a war participant. My search will turn to Ky for linkages.
