In Response To: Re: SLAVE names RAPPAHANNOCK VA! ()
I just, quite happily, received your e-mails. I have 2 children going to school, 1 at Clark, where I am, and the other at TSU. So, I have my hands full.
Rose and Wesley.... I know Rose was Wesley's sister. However, I need to verify the name she supplied when she married her husband, Henry Poole, in Fayette Co., Texas.
I'm thinking that Rose could have been given to the Jordan Family. Do you know if the Jordan plantation was near any of the Fletcher plantations?
What do you mean by "She was 17 when they filed and all the filings were done between 1862 and 1666." I don't think I've heard that term before....
Also, for the Sam's born in 1822 and 1824 who were owned by Fletchers. What were the owners first names?
It's amazing to me that so many slaves from Viriginia were living in Fayette County, Texas. I'm going to look for the Jordan surname there as well.
As usual, thanks for all your help. As I review the names of slaves from the early 1700's through 1865 I think to myself that I could be reading the names of my gggggGrandparents...it's so hard because I just don't know.
