SLADE, Andrew Caswell NC
In Response To: Re: ATTN NC RESEARCHERS! ()

Yes Joseph there is more to tell. My ancestors name is Andrew (Andy) Slade born in Yanceyille, Caswell North Carolina in 1813. He is listed as mulatto under the slaveholder of A. Slade. When I first located him what I didn't understand was A. Slade was born in the same except the year is 1803 so I knew this couldn't be his father.
What I'm going to tell you is as I was searching for my ancestor I accidently found out that a Sir Benjamin Slade in England was looking for the "right Slade" here in the United States regarding an heir to the Slade Castle. He has no children and stated the ancestor would be coming out of North Carolina. My family always thought them to come out of Texas where my grandfather also named Andrew (Andy) Slade is born in 1898.

To my amazement when I logged onto this link regarding the Slade Castle in Somerset England there were pictures of some of the Slades. When I clicked on William Slade I nearly fell out of my chair. I was looking at my mothers face and when I sent a copy of his picture off the internet she confirmed he is our ancestor.

One of our relatives has submitted his DNA to the Slade DNA project on the internet and has received a reply stating he has heard from the project and there is something they want him to do before they complete their findings. For me I want to know if possible who the mother was. If there are any records indicating the slaveholders mothers children born on the plantation I would like to also share this information with our family.
