I think I may have found my great grandfather, Milton HOWARD/SMITH, in a Montgomery County, AL probate old deed trust document indexed under planter, Albert James PICKETT.

V Know all men by these presents
William Graham that I Albert
J Pickett of the
County & State aforesaid for

and in consideration of ten dollars to me in hand paid by
William Graham, and also for other considerations hereinafter
expressed do hereby doth and convey unto William Graham
of the County & State aforesaid the following Negroes to wit
Essex, a Negro man about seventeen years old, Walter about
fifteen years old, Bartlett fourteen years old, Jerry about
fourteen years old, Asaph nine years old, Milly twenty
three years old, Milton two years old, Rhody thirty four years
old, Cresay twenty eight years old, Francis fourteen years
old, Avey eight years old, Charles Eight years old, Dilcey
seven years old, Austin three years old, Anderson one
year old John seven years. To Have and to hold himself
his Heirs, Executors and Administrators forever, In Trust Nevertheless?
and for the sole use behalf & benefit of my wife Sarah S Pickett
my wife for whose benefit and use the above named Negroes as
conveyed unto the said William Graham the said Negroes as
to remain in my possession during my life and after my
death in the possession of the said Sarah S Pickett my
wife until her death or marriage and then to be agreeably
divided equally between the Children that I have and may
have by the said Sarah S Pickett my wife free of this trust

In testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand
& seal this 2nd day of May 1853.

and deed, for the purposes therein expressed, and contained
