Re: Addison Ashworth - Calcasieu & Rapides LA

If you are referring to the Ashworths of Calcasieu & Rapides Parishes in LA - the majority of them were listed in the census as mulatto, and quite a few were Free People of Color. I don't know if there is a connection to the Ashworths of TX but there is a woman who has researched her Ashworth family in TX and they were always called "Redbones", a group of tri-racial isolates with African, Native American and European heritage (see link below to her website)
Paul Heinegg lists:
George3, born say 1785, married Polly Ashworth, daughter of James Ashworth and Keziah Dial of South Carolina, 4 December 1810. George was head of a St. Landry Parish household of 5 "free colored" in 1820 and 10 in 1830 [LA:107, 27].
