A friend, G. H. JONES, has asked my assistance in researching his ancestry. His maternal grandmother was:

Florence HILL (6/28/1879-1/23/1951). Florence was born in Peru, IN to Hezekiah HILL (c. 1851 OH) and Amanda "Mandy" HILL (c. 1852 NC). Hezekiah was born in Ohio, quite possibly in the vicinity of Troy. An 1860 census record reveals what might be his family, although there has been no secondary corroboration.

In addition to Florence, the HILL's had eight other children;

SONS: Bert, Frank, Mack, and Hezekiah; and

DAUGHTERS: Stella, Pearl, Hattie, Bessie, and a name he can only discern as "Mawoke" (sp?).

An 1880 census record in Peru, IN reveals Hezekiah, Mandy, and their oldest four children: Hattie, Bertie, Frank, and Stella.

Hezekiah Sr. married a second time (presumably after the death of Mandy). His second wife was named Mary, and she was stepmother to his children. No maiden names are known for either of the women.
