Problem I'm having with funeral homes are that the ones I know my famly used are no longer there. Supposely they sold out to others and since the newer funeral homes are not at the same address as the older one, I'm having a hard time tracking down who has their records.
In the South, most cementaries were actually at the church and some of the headstones had the name of the funeral director on it. To my biggest disappointment, the church where I grew up decided to remove all the old headstones and use the area as a parking lot. How wrong could that be! Now most of the history that would have been easy to find are gone. I still haven't gotten answers as to what they did with the headstones. Some of them were tall, marble and just beautiful.
