I see that there are two Mallard researchers for Alabama. I just came across this WV Death Certificate for a Mallard born in Ala:

Will Mallard, the son of William Mallard & Shallot Calloway Mallard was born in October, 1900 at Shorter, Alabama. He was a coal miner. He died in Summers County, WV on 8/25/1951. At that time he was living in McDowell County. The informant for his death was Laura Mallard.
