I am from a line of WYCHE that lived in Southampton County, Virginia, near the Sussex County border. I have not been able to located my maternal great grandmother, Mary Wyche Wright, in any census or records before 1900. She should have been present in the 1870 and 1880 censuses. Her father's name was Benjamin Wyche. Her mother was Hester Taylor (that's what her marriage license says), but her death certificate says her mother was a Maria Boone. Benjamin is never shown with a Hester or Maria. His wife's name in the census was Priscilla. When she died, her death information gives her surname as Taylor. I have first cousins who are Wyches whose ancestors came from Sussex County, VA.
