Re: Charles Nelson
In Response To: Charles Nelson ()
Hi, I looked for them in 1920 and 1930 as well. I did not find them. But i did find a couple of interesting things. 1. In 1920 there is a Dora Nelson age 13 living with a Jack Dunn/Gunn in Pike County. This Dora matches the age of Charles and Dink's daughter from 1910. 2. In 1920 there is a Jessie Nelson in Camp Furlong, Luna County New Mexico and he is a soldier and he is 24 and born in Ga. Now there is a WWI Record for a Jessie Nelson born in Pike County Georgia. And it states that he was born in Aug 20/28, 1889. Now in the 1900 census for Charles and Anna (Charles' first wife), its states that Jessie was born in Aug 1893. I believe that the Jessie who is in New Mexico as a soldier and the Jessie from the WWI record is Charles' son. World War I Draft Registration Cards, 1917-1918 Record
3. In the 1900 census and 1910 census, Charles has a daughter named Vinnie/Vinie M Nelson. Now in the 1920 census, I found a Vine M Hixon who is 21 years of age and that age is only off by a couple of years from the Vinnie of 1900 and 1910. Vine M. in 1920 is married to a Alex? Hixon (the same as Hickson/Hickston in todays spelling).
4. In the Georgia Death Index, I found a Charles Nelson who died in Upson County on Feb 27, 1920. Upson County is next door to Pike County. Georgia Deaths, 1919-98 Record
Now, it is a possiblity that Charles and Dink my have passed away by the time the 1920 census came around because of the Dora Nelson being found at age 13 living with a cousin. I hope this helps, Tony
