Re: I'm at a stand still

Richard is right. We do the research because WE are the driven ones ... and whether or not anyone appreciates our work, we KNOW we're doing what the ancestors want us to do.
Whenever I share some massive publication (complete with charts, photos, copies of vital records and newspaper clippings), I know that some of my relatives will just stick it on a shelf somewhere to gather dust for god knows how long. But having it there in THEIR possession is all that matters, because one day, one of their descendants may ask them, "who is our family," and that person will be able to pull out my work and share our information with the future generation's genealogist.
Just let it go and know you're doing the right thing. You must also accept that some people just don't WANT to know their history, and as odd as that seems to us, we must respect it.
You're not doing this for their approval or appreciation. You're doing this because it is what you were born to do. Do it well, share it, and let it go. The stories MUST be told, and you are the story teller.
We've ALL been there and we all know how cold it can feel to be the only one in your family interested in this. You are among friends and can ALWAYS cry on our shoulders.
Be well, and good luck in your search, Cynthia.
