"Garrett " ancesters

I'm starting a search of my grandfathers ancesters starting with John Garrett who married Sally Davis around the 1850's. They had 2 sons, Charles William Garrett, born 9/10/1859 who married Viola Conn; and William Charles Garrett, born(?) who married Maud Buffington. I have a copy of a "Homestead Deed": Minor Creek Freedman, for my grandfather in 1909. If anyone has information on John Garrett (he is believed to have had a family in Texas as well) I would appreciate hearing from you. I would also like to find out more about Sally Davis. We aren't sure if she was from the Creek nation or Cherokee. My brother and I are very intrersted to find out about our family's history. Thank you. Kathy
