My grandfather's name was James Dolphin Pettiford and his mother was supposedly part Indian. He had a brother but I don't know his name. I am trying to locate my heritage for my children. My grandfather was born around 1901 and died in about 1978. He lived in Roxboro, NC and other counties therein NC and when I was 5 I went to live with him in an old mansion somewhere in North Carolina. He worked in Tobacco and that is all I know.
