Re: WELLS /ROBINSON Rappahannock VA
In Response To: Re: WELLS /ROBINSON Rappahannock VA ()
I am so excited! You found new cousins for me!!!!
Florence CHINN Robinson was my g aunt!!
In taking another look at the SALLIE WELLS entries I see...
Name of Spouse: CHINN ________, no birthdate listed and no bride listed
and the next entry for SALLIE WELLS says...
CHINN Elizabeth(no spouse listed,) birthdate circa 1842/1840 and for parents , it lists : CHINN ______ and Sallie WELLS. That is my G G grandmother!
I think I am taking giant steps because SALLIE was the mother of ELIZABETH CHINN. "SALLIE" , the mother of Elizabeth, my g g grandmother, later married a Joseph GRAYSON. Her maiden name must have been WELLS yes/no?
I've been thinking all along that Elizabeth married a CHINN because some of the later marriage records for her children say "Parents- WILLIAM CHINN and ELIZABETH CHINN.
But according to these records, if I am reading it right, ELIZABETH CHINN's father was a CHINN for sure.
And, unless she "invented" WILLIAM CHINN as the father of some of her other children, maybe the father of her children was White? All of her children were listed as MU.
I hope I'm making sense because I am confused about whatever happened to WILLIAM CHINN. He kept having children 1858 -1879 and yet no trace of him in Rappahannock.
I have found a William Chinn, born in VA and living in Louisiana in the 1870? or 1880 census. I just don't see how he could travel back and forth to VA.
One of her children, born 1858, was WILLIAM CHINN.
Thanks so much for helping me on the ROBINSON piece of my puzzle!
