Is anyone out there doing any research or has access to records for Clarksville, Texas in Red River County? This was the place of residence for my great-great grandparents, Patsy (Patcy or Patie) and Sampson Lewis at the the time of emancipation. I have found my gg-grandmother on the 1900 census, but nothing prior to or after that particular census.

There were, I believe, five children: Edmund (my g-grandfather); Viney and Kate (Katie); possibly an Edward; and the other name is unknown. I am really interested in knowing their last slaveowner, and deeds of sale, etc., and from there I might have better luck working my way backwards for information.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I've really hit that proverbial brick wall!
