Re: Baston Reseach AL>GA>FL>TX
In Response To: Baston Reseach AL>GA>FL>TX ()

1900 U.S. Federal Population Census for Texas, Anderson County [Justice Precinct 5, ED 14)
26 June 1900
Bascom (indexed Marie, but looks like it could be Marion)
, Marion Hd B M b. 1851 in AL married 25 yrs.
, Eliza b. 1855 in TX, 3 living children
, John son b 1878
, Sandy son b. 1880
. Mac son b. 1882

Looks like they were enumerated twice.
The second time (28th June), Both Eliza (Lizzie) and Marion were listed as being born in Alabama.

Per the Texas Death Index,
1) A John H. Baston died in Anderson County, TX on Jan 9, 1947 (#80003).
Residence: Rt 1, Montalba, Tx
b. Nov 30 1877
Parents were Marion Baston (b. TX), and Eliza Morgan (b. TX)

2) A Mack Baston died Nov 6, 1956 (#56529)
Residence: 918 Fort St., Palestine, TX
Widow, Carpenter.
Parents were Marion Baston (b. AL), and Leah Helms (b. TX)
Buried: Providence Cemetery, Montalba, TX

Other Anderson county Bastons in the Index:
3) Sandy d. 1962
4) Bertha d 1929
There were also Bastons other counties.

Based on the information for John Baston, I looked at the 1870 Census for an Eliza Morgan (she was, 'reportedly', married 40 years in 1910). Perhaps she married later in the year (after the Census was taken)?

Found the following possibility.
1870 Census, Texas, Anderson County - PO Box Palestine.

An Andrew Morgan (b. Va) and Lilla (b. AL) were listed with their seven children, including an "Eliza" (14), the second oldest and first to be born in Texas. IF this is the Eliza that married Marion, she would have been VERY young. Of course, ages varied by 5 years or more back then.
