I have been trying to put the pieces of this puzzle together (I've been falling to pieces) for over a year. I NEVER thought to search for Phyllis as a Jefferson. The Maggie's I found as Copeland were all white, and mine was short and very dark skinned.
Please allow me to pose this question... Maggie's oldest children (eddie and frank) are surnamed Jefferson and were given to Phyllis's sister to rear (they were born 1906 and 1909), they're not listed in the Jefferson household. My grandfather (Frank) hated her for giving him away. Do you think it's possible that Maggie's stepfather,Tom, is their father???
I cannot wait to tell my aunts and uncles about this.
