Leonard Smith Research
In Response To: Re: Thanks lyndam ()

lyndham,
Thank you...This is what I do know. Per Leonard Smith's birth certificate b. 08/16/1903, his father is listed as Charlie Smith, negro, born in Glenco, St. Mary Parish,La. Mother is listed as Clara Joseph, negro, born in same place as Charlie. I also have The census of 1910 from St Mary Parish, stating that Leonard Smith, age 6 was enumerated into the family of Charles and Clara Smith. I also have a delayed certifiate of birth dated 07/15/1966, under supporting record class record B shows full name of mother Clara Hill** as shown on record. Other supporting record is Mrs. Mary Nicholson, Aunt, 4503 Rawley st, Houston Tx. I have an Enlistment record of Leonard Smith, 08/07/42, Ft Sam Houston, Tx. I have a marriage certificate for Leonard and Vivian Smith 01/09/1943 from Houston Harris Co Tx. Witness Leroy Hill. And last of all, I have a letter dated Dec 14th, 1969, signed sister Vic, address 3324 Dennis St, Houston, Tx. 77114. The letter is to Leonard and Vivian who then resided in Oakland, Ca. The letter references that Leonards niece Mary is going to through a birthday party for Charlie, and she guesses she will probably rent the Rice Motel. My husband says he remembers the older Charlie, and believes he out lived his son. His parents, along with Leonard and Vivian are deceased, so this is what we have to go by. Thanks so much for all your help.
