The Shreveport Sun was one of the first black weekly newspapers in Louisiana. It is still in existence and being published by a 'Collins' (?).

Some sources have ML Collins as the 'founder' of the Sun; others mention another founder. An interesting entry is found online - in the Library of Congress' (Thomas) Congressional Record.
