ED VANCE bn May 1880, Parents?

I recently received a death certificate for a grand-uncle who I only know by a name and the story my grandmother told, Ed's father was Lucy's x-slaveholder. His mother Lucy Vance was born in SC but by 1880 she had relocated to Monroe Ms. According to the death certificate, Lucy gave information that Huc/Hugh Vance(I am spelling it the way it was 1st on the death certifcate and 2nd how it probably should have been spelled, keeping in mind Lucy was from SC and the Gullah dialect may have confused the person who spelled the name)born in MS, was the father of Ed. Of course the 1890 census would have been a fantastic help, but the next time I found Ed was in the household with Lucy Vance and 2 daughters in 1900 Monroe Ms. I found a Hugh Vance in PANOLA MS in 1880, but no information for him after. Is there someone who can do a Lookup and find and information with Ed Vance-who was listed as a carpenter,in the household with anyone who could have been a distant relative to the VANCE's or a Vance household BEFORE or DURING the year 1900.

I am looking for information between the years of 1880 and 1900.

This gap may may help me confirm the name of Lucy Vance's last slaveholder.
