Glad I'm not getting on your nerves--LOL.
I understand about making contact with the descendants on Tampa--not weird at all.
I recently made contact with the children/grandchildren of my grandfather's brother. He had left the family in the early 1950s and the family assumed him dead in the 60s (when my great grandmother received some form of communiqué that he had died in a car accident). It took some years of locating an address and lots of prayer to go through, but I sent a letter (thinking all the while I was going to get cussed out and told not to ever make contact again--I'm usually not that pessimestic--smile, but the circumstances et cetera...).
Well, I sent the letter a couple of months ago. Found out that the Uncle hadn't passed away until 1990 and his children/grandchildren had been hoping for this for some time (they'd only been told the name of my great grandparents and their children). We're in touch with a couple of them on a regular basis, others are still warming to the thought and may never fully embrace it, only time will tell I guess.
