Re: 1860/1850 census look up
In Response To: 1860/1850 census look up ()
1860 U. S. Federal Census, Division 37, Haywood, North Carolina; Roll: M653_901; Page: 307; Image: 57
The actual pages are 54 and 55. There is only a check mark in the boxes of the column for Color - White, black, or mulatto. The words black and mulatto are printed with all small letters. The date at the top of the page is 5 July 1860. I have found that copying the date on the page to be helpful since I've found people appearing in different households in the same year. The date may indicate the person lived there at the time, but moved and was living in another household when their census was taken. The spacing of my typing will appear differently on this forum, but I hope this helps. Ed
