i'm researching my maternal lineage and wonder if anyone could be related to or have information on the following:

James Oliver b. 1914 d. 2002 summerton, SC maternal grandfather

he was orphaned at a young age, so it's been hardest finding his ancestors.

Wilhelmenia Thames b. 1924 d. 1984 summerton, SC maternal grandmother

Rosa-Lee Thames Gibson, b. early 1900's, sister to Wilhelmenia Thames

Emma-Jean Thames b. between 1880-1900, maternal ggrandmother also from SC

i've looked at census records here at afrigeneas, and there seem to have been lots of Thames in SC around this time. however, i'm stuck in trying to figure out connections. would my best bet be to take a trip to SC to visit the churches of my grandparents and view their records? i don't believe either grandparent was born in a hospital.
