Why so many mistakes?

I HAVE BEEN WORKING ON MY GREAT GRANDFATHER'S HISTORY. ALBERT BANKSTON'S BIRTHDATE ON ARKANSAS RECRDS RANGE FROMM 1834 TO 185O. I HAVE LOOKED AT ALL RECODS AND I THINK HE WAS BORN IN NORTH CAROLINA IN 1834' THEN TO GA. AND THEN MS. I BELIEVED I HAVE NARROWED THE TO A PLANTATION OWNER SPENCER BANKSTON OR HIRAM BANKSTON. THERE ARE SEVERAL SPELLINGS OF BANKSTON. I BELIEVED HE DIED IN MS.I CAN TRACE THE WHITE FAMILY BACK TO THE EARLY 1500'S. SLAVE RECORDS GIVE AGES NOT NAMES.

I HAVE FOUND SO MANY ERRORS. FOR EXAMPLE MY GRANDMOTHER'S NAME--SAME AS MINE--DILCY BUT IT WAS SPELLED DILAY. MY FATHER RACE CHANGE FROM CHILDHOOD TO TEENS FROM MIXED TO BLACK. IT HAS MADE SEARCHING DIFFICULT.ALSO THE RECORDS HAVE MY GRANDFATER'S NANE AS ALFRED AND ALFORD. . THIS CAN BE UPSETING AT TIMES, BUT THERE IS JOY WHEN YOU FIND THE CONNECTION. CAN ANYONE TELL ME IF THEY SPENT A LOT OF TIME SEARCHING BECAUSE OF RECORDS WERE DIFFERENT FROM ENTERIES IN FAMILY BIBLE.
