Although I didn't find the information I was looking for, I did find this article.
I can't connect this particular Jones to MY family although he defended the Elaine 12 in the early 1900s. I haven't pursued him as a relative yet. However he does have the exact name as one of my gggrandmother's brother, Scipio A. Jones. Look at his appearance and see if you can figure out what he's mixed with.
(That sounds so wrong to me to say "mixed with" but what else am I to say? He clearly wasn't all black. And again, the NAME is what I'm curious about.
