I had a similiar problem in Granville Co. where I knew the date of
death, but when I wrote Granville Co. Health Dept. they couldn't
find any record of his death. I then contacted Random Acts of
Genealogical Kindness ( http://www.raogk.com/ )
They had a lookup volunteer in Granville Co. that found the death
certificate for me and sent it to me. I have got great results
from that website.
