You know Karen I really cannot find a true answer in the age thing. I have tried to think like the people of the time, not only the Black ones but the White ones, and I have noticed that in a lot of cases some people were not always sure as to the age of a person, and yes it was sometimes off by two. Even some of the recent death certificates are off. My grandmother died in 1942. According to her death certificate she was born in 1880. Here is the clincher. Her oldest child was born in 1888. Then the marriage bond proved otherwise, that my grandmother was in her twenties when she married my grandfather who was also in his twenties in the year 1885. So how you like them apples? Joseph
