Researching within the area

As I do the research I attempt to look pretty much into a variety of areas, and into different worlds, for instance when I pull up a name such as Andrew Crowell, I will not only see his name, but I will recognize the fact that he has neighbors. So Andrew Crowell and his family live in a place called Morgan Township, Rowan County, N.C.; and there is a list of almost 50 persons living within that area during that time. So I attempt to do some history and a little bit of snooping into at least five of those families, regardless of their skin. I have recognized some white people names, names that I have heard my own mom speak of, names of some of those persons who still managed to live in that area, and many of them were farmers. Though, some of those whites did not continue wide range of farming, they still existed. Even so for some of the African Americans, some of which managed to stick around, but their offsprings moved away. Each census gives me a different look at the neighborhood, and sometimes I found out that Morgan Township is called Gold Hill....look sometimes for the change in the name of a township. I have relatives in Granite Quarry another township, but it was not settled in until 1900; before that it may have been called Rockwell. Something else to look for. Hope this is some help for researchers. Joseph
