Re: Census Search for Joe French - AL>FL

And I know I am going to have to swallow the pill on this one. William French died in 1928. His death record was filled out by his oldest son (Sam) and not even he knew the names of his father's parents. Where the death record asks for the parents name, it is written "don't know". I may never be able to fill in the pieces of his puzzle before 1874. His son Sam, did know his place of birth was Marengo County. The 1880 census does not list the birthplace of his parents (left blank). The 1900 census lists their birthplaces as Kentucky. The other census records list his parent's place of birth as Alabama. I have a wall portrait of him from the 1800s. It is clear to me that he is mixed with something. One of his granddaughters (85yrs) remembers him (grandpapa as she called him) and she said he was blackfeet indian.
