Also, I am looking for a William Garner born ~1846 in Marengo County, AL. I have found him in 1880, 1900, 1910,and 1920, but I cannot find him in 1870. He changed his name to William French some time after 1874 (I found the marriage record under the name of Garner). He may have been in Alabama, Mississippi, Florida or New Orleans, but he was most likely going under the name Garner.

Any help would be greatly appreciated
