I am looking for information ony my family genealogy. I have census records from 1870 and 1880, but the farthest back I can trace this particular family line is the Sally Harcum and William Lewis who were born and died, I believe in burgess, northumberland VA. I am descended from their son Theodore Lewis who was born in burgess around 1861 and his second wife Mary Alice Cockrell born 1881 in VA (daughter of Scipio Cockrell and Rhoda Hasnie (I'm not sure if this was her true last name, I can't make it out). I would like to trace it back farther and also find out if any of these people, born before 1865 were slaves.
