Hello Ms. Proctor,

I found John C. Diamond in the census in 1900. He was indeed a student at the Hampton school. This 1900 census indicates his birth to be about 1877.

So, I went to the 1880 census record. You indicated that John's father was named George. I found a George Diamon (spelled that way in the census) with wife Ann in Cumberland County in the town of Madison Va. George is listed as a mulatto at age 50 years old and being born in Va. His wife Ann is 40 and born in Va. There are three stepchilden listed by the names of Harrison Randal age 15, Margset/Margret Harrison age 13 and Tom Harrison age 10. Lastly, there is son named John Diamon age 3 and he is also listed as a Mulatto. This John would have been born in 1877. So this family maybe your John's family in 1880. I also found George in 1870 and 1900 in Cumberland Co. If you want that info, just let me know.

I did not find John in 1910 but I did find a John C Diamond in 1920 in Fredericksburg County, Fredericksburg Va. He is listed as 42 with wife Theresa age 29. A sister in law named Mattie Martin (the word Martin as line through it on the census image) age 60 is living with them as well. Also there is an adopted son named Osborne Diamond age 2 listed as well.

In 1930 a John C Diamon is found in Norfolk County Norfolk Va and he is 50 years old with wife Mary B. Diamon age 30. It states that Mary B. was born Mass. The children are as following Evelyn C. (YOU!!) age 6, Mary C. age 5 and John C. age 3.

Note that on the original image it states that his occupation is a Minister and he is 40. He is self employed and his wife is listed as Theresa Diamond. His address at this time is 515 11th, Fredericksburg, Va. This WWI draft card was done on Sept 12 1918 and John is listed has 40 years old at this time
