John Carter Diamond

My father was 40 years old when I was born to a second wife, Mary Brickson Hill of Boston, Mass. He was born in Prince Edward or Prince George County, Va. around 1885 (?) I have found a census record that he was a student at Hampton Trade School (now Hampton Univ.) around 1899-1900. He was taking the carpentry course. He became a minister and graduated from Howard Univ. Divinity School and came to Norfolk Va. around 1900-20. Married Mary Hill in 1921 in Norfolk and pastored the First Baptist Church, Berkley,a suburb of Norfolk called the Southside. Because he was a middle ager when I was born, I assume his mother and father,George, were deceased. The name Diamond was a name the family assumed after 1865, I recollect from oral history. His name was John Carter Diamond, died in 1971 in Atlanta, Ga. He had a brother, and a sister, Georga Welmon, who lived in Brooklyn, NY, and had a daughter,Anna Miller. The brother's name has escaped my memory, as I never met him. The sister and neice I met. They are now both deceased.
