Henry C. Thompson

I am looking for information on Henry C. Thompson and family. He was born in Virginia as well as his wife Mollie. We have two medals which had belonged to him from the Spanish American war. He served on the U.S.S. Michigan/Wolverine and was awarded a medal on April. 9 1899. I found him on the 1900 naval and population schedule. Seaport detroit Michigan. I found his family in 1900 in Erie Pa. I located them in the 1880 census in Charlotteville Va. In 1908 he received a certificate declairing him as a member of De Molay in the valley of Philadelphia Penn. Consistory number 1. dec. 16, 1908. His son, John Lee Thompson attended the Chatauqua school of Physical Education in New York on August 14, 1903. I have not been able to find out when John Lee got married or where. But my boyfriends father (son of John lee) was born in Oregon. Raised in the State of california. Some time between the move from the East coast to the West, John Lee changed his race. When I found the census records, my boyfriend was a bit surprised, again very little if anything was ever discussed about that side of the family. John Lee worked for the Los Angeles Parks and Rec. service. He taught Errol Flynn to fense at the park. I would love to find out more information, so if anyone can help or guide me, I would be most appreciative! I believe that my boyfriend has such a rich history which needs to be discovered!
