pre-1936 marriage

Dear AfriGeneas folks,

Could you give me some advice on a marriage license?
My parents were married preceeding the birth of my oldest
sister, who was born in 1936.

Looking at my oldest(now deceased)sister's birth certificate,my father was about 24 at this time, and my mother about 23. They both were Southern Nash County residence at that time. He is listed as a
farmer and my mother as a housekeeper.

I've asked my older relatives and nobody can give me a specific
date for the marriage, they only can remember that there was a
marriage and it took place sometime before 1936.

Were bond marriages still going on in the 1930's? If so, would
this marriage only be recorded in a church book, and not on
any county records in the 30's. Basically, I was trying to find the actual date. How many different family documents would contain the
wedding date?

I only know that it would have taken place somewhere in Nash County,
and in the Manninings Township area of Nashville or Spring Hope,
in Eastern North Carolina.
